Associate Head Coach - Varsity Gold

The Associate Head Ice Hockey Coach will be responsible for the support of on ice activities of the team including running practices, game scouting, overseeing games and assisting with game video work.

This candidate will collaborate with the coaching staff to implement a predetermined set of systems that’s utilized across all three teams. They will be responsible for assisting with game video analysis, running video sessions and pre game scouting based on a set schedule. This coach will engage with and empower junior coaching staff to have responsibilities within the team structure; assistant coaches are not in a role to just push pucks but rather are given equal responsibilities amongst the coaching staff and mentored. This candidate will be in a role that interfaces with parents and must be able to establish and enforce appropriate parent/coach communication expectations.

Practice ice is predominantly split between Twin Rinks and Hot Shots. Some ice includes 4pm after school and 6am prior to school, subject to coach availability. Home Game ice is primarily Thursday and Saturday evenings. Travel will be required to one out of town tournament during the Fall/Winter season requiring at least one day off from other employment.

This is a 1099 contractor position with Stevenson High School Hockey Association (SHSHA). The candidate will not be an employee of Adlai Stevenson High School. Candidate will be required to complete and pass background check requirements through Adlai Stevenson High School as a condition of their contract. Pay is dependent on experience. In addition to the Fall/Winter season there’s the ability earn additional income during the Spring/Summer season (April-August), based on the availability and desire for participation of the candidate.

Candidate will ideally be familiar with HUDL. Preference to a USAH Level 3 Coach. While not an AHAI requirement, SHSHA requires candidates to work towards their USAH Level 4. Level 5 sponsorship is available. 7 years coaching experience preferred, 5 minimum.
